Who We Are

Our Story
In August 1997, a group of 72 people met in the First Seventh Day Adventist Church and felt led to begin a church. Len Chilton was called as the first pastor.
The name “Dayspring” was chosen because it was a prophetic name for Jesus and for the reason He came: “To give knowledge of salvation to His people by the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the Dayspring from on high hath visited us, to give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” – Luke 1:77-79
One year later the church had grown to 315 members. At that time the church voted to purchase 29.82 acres of land which is the present location of the church. As of 2010 our membership has grown to over 1,804.
Our Purpose
Dayspring Baptist Church is committed to giving every man, woman, and child repeated opportunities to see and hear the Gospel.
“Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”" – Matthew 22:37-39
